They were pivotal in raising quality, and positively developing Norwegian furniture design for more than a quarter century following World War II. Rastad & Relling became something of a nursery for recently graduated interior designers. The office established contact with the rapidly growing furniture industry in Western Norway at a very early point. Gustav Bahus Eftf. in Os, near Bergen, produced many of their exclusive models, including chair series Bambi which lay at the crossroads between industrial production and traditional hand craft. Furniture Series Futurum in pine, from the mid 1960’s, was a great success, with high sales lasting two entire decades. Fredrik Kayser, Arne Halvorsen and Sigurd Resell were some of the many designers to start their careers working for Rastad & Relling.
